Elaborate arrangements in place for New Year 2024 celebrations in Mumbai

Preparations for a peaceful New Year celebration in Mumbai are in place, according to a senior police official. Joint Commissioner (Law and Order) Satyanarayan Chowdhary disclosed that a substantial force, comprising 11,000 police personnel, 2,000 officers, 22 deputy commissioners of police, and 45 assistant commissioners of police, has been strategically deployed for the occasion.
 
To address potential emergencies and uphold order, 20 platoons of the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF), 15 platoons of Law and Order Reserve, as well as specialized units such as the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad and Quick Response Team (QRT), are positioned throughout the city.
 
Surveillance during the celebrations will be extensive, with approximately 5,000 CCTV cameras actively monitoring events, particularly in crowded locations like Gateway of India, Marine Drive, and beaches. Live footage will be continuously monitored from both main and regional control rooms.
