The Delhi Police has registered an FIR over the circulation of an unpublished book of former Chief of Army Staff Gen M M Naravane on social media, an official statement said Monday. "The Delhi Police has taken cognisance of information circulating on social media platforms and online news forums claiming that a pre-print copy of a book titled 'Four Stars of Destiny' is being circulated without mandatory clearance from competent authorities," the statement said. According to the police statement, it was also reported that the necessary clearance for publication of this book is yet to be received from the relevant authorities. "Upon verification, it was found that a PDF copy of a type-set book with the same title and apparently prepared by M/s Penguin Random House India Pvt Ltd is available on certain websites and, also, some online marketing platforms have displayed the finished book cover as if it is available for purchase," it read. Security tightened after bomb threat emails sent to 15 Delhi schools

At least 10 schools in the national capital received bomb threat emails on Monday, triggering massive security movement, the Delhi Fire Services (DFS) said. According to the DFS, emergency calls were received from multiple educational institutions across different parts of the city in the morning hours, following which fire tenders and bomb disposal teams were rushed to the locations. "A total of 10 schools received bomb threats today. Fire service teams immediately reached the premises. Checking is underway," a DFS official said. The schools were evacuated as a precautionary measure. Bomb detection and disposal squads, along with dog squads, are carrying out extensive searches.

Traffic restrictions will be in force at several locations in New Delhi on Wednesday in connection with rehearsals for the Beating Retreat ceremony at and around Vijay Chowk, the Delhi Traffic Police said. Don't disclose sexual assault survivor's identity: Delhi HC to police

Name, parentage or address of a survivor of sexual assault should not be disclosed in any document or report filed in courts, the Delhi High Court has directed the city police. Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma called upon the commissioner of Delhi Police to give appropriate instructions to all SHOs and investigating officers to strictly comply with law against the disclosure of identity of survivors of sexual offences. The court passed the direction while rejecting the bail plea of an accused in a POCSO case. It "noted with concern" that the name of the prosecutrix was mentioned in the status report filed by the investigating officer in the present case. According to a traffic advisory, Vijay Chowk will remain closed for general traffic from 4 pm to 6.30 pm. Vehicular movement will also be restricted on Raisina Road from the roundabout near Krishi Bhawan towards Vijay Chowk. Over 2,100 challans issued in Delhi Traffic Police's Jan 16 crackdown

Delhi Traffic Police issued 2,175 challans and impounded 23 vehicles during a special enforcement drive against traffic violations conducted across six major locations in the capital, an officer said on Saturday. The "zero-tolerance" drive was carried out on January 16, simultaneously at Anand Vihar ISBT, J B Tito Marg, Azadpur Mandi Chowk, Teen Murti Roundabout, Dwarka Mor on Najafgarh Road and Bikaner Chowk in Karol Bagh, he said. "The enforcement focused on violations such as improper parking, stop-line violations, wrong-side driving, no-entry violations and permit-related offences, which are considered major contributors to congestion and road safety risks," Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Monika Bhardwaj said. The police impounded 23 vehicles for serious violations during the drive. The intensified enforcement led to an improvement in traffic flow at the locations, the officer said, adding that similar enforcement drives will continue over the next seven days.

Turkman Gate violence: Delhi court sends 3 more accused to judicial custody

A Delhi court on Saturday sent three persons to 11-day judicial custody for their alleged involvement in the violence that broke out during a demolition drive near a mosque here in the Turkman Gate area. Accused of pelting stones near the Faiz-e-Elahi mosque at Turkman Gate, Ubaidullah, Mohammad Naved and Mohammad Faiz were produced before Kartik Taparia, duty judicial magistrate, fast track court, who remanded them to judicial custody till January 21. "In view of submissions of IO (investigating officer) concerned and also keeping in view the fact that the allegations against the accused are serious in nature and the investigation of the case is at initial stage, the application moved by the IO concerned is allowed," the court said. With the fresh arrests, police have apprehended 16 people, including a juvenile, so far.
