The Budget session of the Madhya Pradesh assembly beginning Monday is likely to see a confrontation between Congress and the government on multiple issues including the alleged nursing college scam and Minimum Support Price for crops.
The government will present the Budget on July 3, officials said, adding that the session will feature 14 sittings, starting from Monday and concluding on July 19.

The official ceremonial and playing kits for the Indian contingent at the Paris Olympics 2024 were launched in the national capital during a ceremonial send-off ceremony organised by the IOA at the national capital on Sunday. The partnership was announced at the event.

The Ayodhya district administration has constituted a committee to probe the alleged gross negligence in the construction of the 14-km-long Ram Path which suffered cave-ins at multiple spots in just two pre-monsoon showers.
This comes a day after the Uttar Pradesh government suspended six officials of civic agencies for alleged gross negligence following the road cave-ins and waterlogging at several sections of the newly-built Ram Path.

Heavy rains lashed several areas in Gujarat on Sunday, impacting the normal life in some cities including Ahmedabad and Surat due to water-logging with Palsana taluka in Surat district receiving 153 mm of rainfall, the highest in the state, in just ten hours.
The downpour affected traffic movement in Surat, Bhuj, Vapi, Bharuch and Ahmedabad cities due to inundation in low-lying areas, rendering some roads and underpass inaccessible, officials said.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Sunday met Qatar's Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani in Doha and reviewed bilateral relationship, with a focus on political, trade, investment, energy, technology, culture and people-to-people ties.
Jaishankar, who arrived here on a day-long visit, also exchanged views on regional and global issues with Sheikh Mohammed, who also holds the portfolio as Foreign Minister.

The detailed technical study of the Delhi airport's now shut Terminal 1 (T1) is expected to be completed in a month and depending on the findings, the decision will be taken on recommencing operations at the terminal, a senior government official said on Sunday.
All flights from T1 have been shifted to Terminal 2 (T2) and Terminal 3 (T3), and all of them were being operated, the official told PTI.

General Upendra Dwivedi assumed office as the 30th Chief of the Army Staff on Sunday, succeeding General Manoj Pande upon his retirement. Gen Dwivedi, previously serving as the Vice Chief of the Army, brings extensive operational experience from postings along the borders with China and Pakistan. He held the position of General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Northern Command from 2022 to 2024 before assuming the role of Vice Chief.

Starting Monday, India will witness the implementation of three new criminal laws that signify a significant overhaul of its justice system, marking the end of colonial-era legal frameworks.
