Delhi govt offers free coaching for JEE, NEET, others to over 2K students

The Delhi government is offering free professional coaching to 2,200 meritorious government school students for JEE, NEET, CLAT, CA and CUET under the Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya Vidya Shakti Mission, Education Minister Ashish Sood announced on Monday. The mission aims to empower students' aspirations, ensure emotional well-being and build future-ready schools across the capital, an official statement said. This scheme, which was announced in the budget, has a budget allocation of Rs 21 crore. It reserves 50 seats per course for female students in JEE, NEET, CLAT, and CA Foundation, while CUET-UG will offer 1,000 seats, with 150 reserved for girls. Coaching will be provided through empanelled institutions, including Aakash Institute, Narayana Academy, KD Campus and Ravindra Institute, it said. Delhi government is committed to ensuring quality education for every child in the national capital, and the recently-passed Bill to regulate fees in private schools will bring greater transparency and accountability in the institutions, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said on Saturday. Delhi govt asks schools to admit EWS, DG students via computerised draws

The Delhi government has directed all school heads to ensure that admissions for students under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS), Disadvantaged Group (DG) and Children with Special Needs (CWSN) categories are conducted through a fully computerised draw of lots, eliminating any manual intervention. In a circular dated February 27, the Directorate of Education (DoE) stated, "The admission process for EWS, DG, and CWSN categories in private unaided recognised schools at the entry-level classes (Nursery, KG, and Class 1) is conducted exclusively through a computerised draw of lots." Delhi govt to expand mental health counseling services to all govt schools

The Delhi government on Friday directed the government schools to conduct mental-health check-ups of the students for their well-being by introducing comprehensive counseling services, according to an official statement. Delhi Education Minister Atishi instructed the Directorate of Education (DoE) to draft a blueprint for the initiative following the success of a pilot phase that provided counseling to over 20,000 students across 20 schools, said the statement. Atishi directed the DoE to prepare a blueprint for expanding counseling services to all government schools here, ensuring timely support for the students' mental health needs, it said. 2020 Delhi riots: Court acquits six men accused of theft, arson charges

A court here has acquitted six men who were accused of committing arson, rioting and theft during the 2020 communal riots in northeast Delhi. AAP calls for protest at BJP headquarters, Delhi police says no permission

With AAP set to hold a protest at the BJP headquarters on Saturday, the Delhi Police said the party had not taken its permission to hold the demonstration. SC slams authorities over failure to process municipal solid waste in Delhi

The Supreme Court on Monday slammed authorities for their failure to process municipal solid waste generated in Delhi and termed it "sorry state of affairs". The apex court observed that in the national capital, 3,000 tonnes of municipal solid waste generated remains untreated every day.
