Hodal

Hodal seat (SC) has been represented by Udai Bhan four times. Bhan is Haryana Congress Unit chief and staunch loyalist of Bhupinder Singh Hooda. 
 
Udai Bhan, 66, is son of Gaya Lal, India's most famous turn coat after whom 'Aaya Ram, Gaya Ram' phrase was coined. Active in Haryana politics since the 1980s. Joined Congress in 1997.
 
Got elected in 1987 on the Lok Dal ticket, in 2000 as an Independent and in 2005 and 2014 as the Congress nominee.
 
Faced anti-defection law charges when he joined Congress in 2004 as an Independent MLA.
 
He replaced Kumari Selja as Haryana Congress chief. Seljia is now Congress Lok Sabha MP.
 
On this seat,the  BJP decided to drop its incumbent MLA Jagdish Nayar and place a bet on Harinder Singh Ramrattan. Last time, Nayar had won this year by a margin of only about 3,300 votes.
