Honda reported Friday that its profit for the first fiscal half through September fell 37 per cent from the previous year, as the damage from President Donald Trump's tariffs offset the lift from solid motorcycle sales. Tokyo-based Honda Motor Co. recorded a 311.8 billion yen (USD2 billion) profit for April-September, down from 494.6 billion yen a year before. Sales over the six months totalled 10.6 trillion yen (USD 69 billion), down 1.5 per cent from nearly 10.8 trillion yen. Honda lowered its profit projection for the fiscal year through March 2026 to 300 billion yen (USD 2 billion), which would be a decline of 64 per cent from 835.8 billion yen the year before. It had earlier forecast a 420 billion yen (USD 2.7 billion) annual profit. Japanese auto major Honda will launch ten new models, including seven SUVs, in the Indian market by 2030 as it aims to bolster sales and enhance market share in the robustly growing Indian passenger vehicle market, according to a top company executive. Terming India as a top priority market for future growth along with the US and Japan, the Tokyo-headquartered automaker plans to drive in both global premium products and locally produced models to cater to the Indian passenger vehicle market which is expected to touch 60 lakh units annual mark by 2030 from around 43 lakh units currently. Japanese auto major Honda Motor Co Ltd has picked up a minority stake, in the range of 5-10 per cent, in homegrown OMC Power, which is in the process of building up 1 gigawatt (GW) renewable energy portfolio in India, according to industry sources. The investment has come at a time when OMC Power is entering into a new business vertical where the company will deploy electric vehicle (EV) batteries as battery energy storage system (BESS) solution, and re-purpose the old EV batteries to support with UPS (uninterrupted power supply) like the inverters or some similar kind of applications. Honda's profit for the fiscal year through March slipped 24.5 per cent from the previous year, as its vehicle sales in China dropped, and the Japanese automaker warned Tuesday that President Donald Trump's tariffs will worsen its earnings. Tokyo-based Honda Motor Co, which dropped talks to integrate its business with Japanese rival Nissan Motor Corp earlier this year, said its annual profit totaled 835.8 billion Yen (USD 5.6 billion), down from 1.1 trillion Yen in the previous fiscal year. Honda Cars India on Thursday said it has achieved E20 petrol compliance certification for all the models it sells in the country. The company has achieved compliance for the Elevate, City e:HEV, City, and Amaze models. The achievement highlights Honda's commitment to sustainable mobility and supporting India's transition to greener and cleaner transportation, the automaker said in a statement. The company has embraced E20 petrol since 2009, and all Honda cars manufactured in India from January 1, 2009, are compatible with E20 materials, the company stated. Japanese firm Honda on Monday said it has commenced work for a spare parts warehouse facility in Doddaballapura near Bengaluru, Karnataka. Managed by Honda Cars India, the new facility will support the spare parts operations for all Honda businesses, including Honda Cars India, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India, and Honda India Power Products, the company said in a statement. The upcoming facility, which will be operational by the first quarter of FY26, will play an important role in the faster availability of spare parts at Honda dealerships, it added. Honda Cars India on Thursday said it has appointed Ryuto Shimizu as the company's new Director (Marketing & Sales). He replaces Yuichi Murata who has moved to Honda Mexico as President. Shimizu has been associated with Honda for over 25 years and has worked across several international markets during the span of his career including Japan, China and Thailand, the automaker said in a statement.
