Bharti Airtel plans to set up two new multizone regions for Airtel Cloud in Mumbai and Chennai, in collaboration with US IT company IBM, the telecom operator said on Wednesday. Bharti Airtel has signed a strategic partnership with IBM to augment its recently launched Airtel Cloud to jointly provide enterprise solutions. Global tech giant IBM is aiming to open its quantum computer in Andhra Pradesh's Amaravati by March next year, a senior company official has said. India has "strong energy" from an education and skilling perspective in the relatively newer quantum computing space, but needs to focus more on the application research side as the future winners can emerge from this front, the official has said. Scott Crowder, vice-president for quantum adoption at the company, said the company has partnered with India's largest IT services exporter TCS to install the 'IBM Quantum System Two' and the same is projected to be ready by end of first quarter of 2026. The average cost of an organisation for a data breach has risen 13 per cent to Rs 22 crore in 2025 from Rs 19.5 crore in the year-ago period, according to a report released on Thursday. However, despite the surge in costs, the security in artificial intelligence is still lacking, the report by global tech major IBM said. Phishing, or the act of sending fraudulent communication to extract personal information, is the top attack vector, with the usage in 18 per cent of incidents, followed by third-party vendor and supply chain promises at 17 per cent, while vulnerability exploitations accounted for 13 per cent. The research sector in India faced the highest impact from data breaches, with average cost reaching Rs 28.9 crore, closely followed by the transportation industry at Rs 28.8 crore and the industrial sector at Rs 26.4 crore. US IT company IBM plans to establish a Software Lab in Lucknow focused on advancing Generative and agentic AI technologies, the company said on Tuesday.
