Indian IT major Infosys on Tuesday said it has entered into a long-term collaboration with British community bank Metro Bank to digitise the bank's operations. The collaboration will utilise Infosys Topaz, the firm's AI-first offerings, to enhance Metro Bank's digital capabilities, improve automation, refine data, and embed further AI capabilities. This will assist the bank in increasing efficiency and saving costs, a regulatory filing said. "At the end of this transformation, we will be a very different business, but the true essence of Metro Bank will remain the same -- a high-quality service organisation putting customers centre-stage," Metro Bank CEO Daniel Frumkin said. Philanthropic firm Infosys Foundation USA will provide USD 200,000 (about Rs 1.6 crore) to support tech careers in Indiana, it said in a statement on Tuesday. The funding is expected to help 5,000 residents of Indiana, commonly referred to as Hoosiers. The funds will be transferred to the Central Indiana Corporate Partnership (CICP) Foundation. CICP will, in turn, assist TechPoint -- Indiana's industry-led growth initiative for the technology ecosystem -- and Nextech and Indianapolis Public Schools, which will implement new tech-career programmes in central Indiana. "Infosys Foundation USA, a non-profit organisation focused on bridging the digital divide in America, announced a USD 200,000 investment to support Hoosiers in their pursuit of upskilling for tech careers," the statement said. "Overall, nearly 5,000 Hoosiers are expected to benefit from this programme, which aims to increase participation from historically under-represented populations," the statement said.
Infosys Foundation, the philanthropic and CSR arm of Infosys, on Tuesday said a grant of Rs 39.6 crore has been extended to social organisations to bolster women empowerment through education and employment in the country. The Foundation has "signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) in this financial year, with Avanti Fellows, Nirmaan Organization, and Shrimad Rajchandra Aatma Tatva Research Centre, to bolster women's empowerment in India," a company statement said. "These strategic collaborations are aimed at providing quality education and employment opportunities to women from underprivileged communities across the country." Infosys Foundation, the philanthropic arm of software major Infosys, has signed a pact with Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore to offer a grant worth Rs 5 crore to strengthen research on infectious diseases. The objective of the memorandum understanding (MoU) is to enhance infrastructure and broaden research activities at the Centre for Infectious Diseases Research (CIDR) at IISc, said the Foundation in a statement. "The grant of INR 5 crore will be used towards research, training and creating awareness about infectious diseases, benefiting 25 faculty members and 250 students at IISc."IISc Bangalore facilitates research and higher education in all science and engineering disciplines.
