A Babbar Khalsa International terrorist, involved in multiple heinous crimes, has been extradited from the UAE, said a top Punjab Police officer on Saturday. Parminder Singh alias Pindi, a close aide of foreign-based terrorists Harwinder Singh alias Rinda and Happy Passia, has been brought from Abu Dhabi in the UAE in close coordination with the central agencies, said Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav. Yadav said Pindi was involved in multiple heinous crimes, including petrol bomb attacks, violent assaults and extortions in Batala in Gurdaspur. In a post on X, Yadav said acting swiftly on a red corner notice (RCN) requested by the Batala police, a dedicated four-member team led by a senior police officer travelled to the UAE on September 24, coordinated with the Ministry of External Affairs and the UAE authorities. After completing all legal formalities, the police team successfully brought the accused back to face justice, said Yadav.
Pro-Khalistan radical preacher Amritpal Singh's seven aides were released from the Dibrugarh Central Jail in Assam after the expiry of their NSA remand but were arrested again by the Punjab Police in a different case, officials said here on Wednesday. A 25-member team of the Punjab Police has been in Assam's Dibrugarh for the past several days to facilitate the transfer of Singh's seven accomplices, who have been imprisoned along with the Waris Punjab De (WPD) leader here for nearly two years. "Today, Kulwant Singh, Harjeet Singh and Gurinder Pal Singh were released as their detention period in the National Security Act (NSA) has expired," a senior official told PTI here. Following their release, the Punjab Police arrested them again and presented them before a court in Dibrugarh and sought transit remand, he added. India on Thursday said it will pursue an extradition request with Canada for Arsh Singh Gill alias Arsh Dalla, the de-facto chief of the Khalistan Tiger Force, following his arrest in that country. Dalla was designated in India as a terrorist in 2023. In July 2023, India had requested the Canadian government for his provisional arrest. "In view of the recent arrest, our agencies will be following up on an extradition request," Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said. "Given Arsh Dalla's criminal record in India and his involvement in similar illegal activities in Canada, it is expected that he will be extradited or deported to face justice in India," he added. The priest of a Hindu temple in the Canadian city of Brampton has been suspended for spreading "violent rhetoric" during recent clashes between protesters carrying Khalistani flags and the people present there. On November 3, the protest occurred at the Hindu Sabha temple in Brampton and unverified videos circulating on social media appeared to show demonstrators holding banners in support of Khalistan. The videos showed fist fights and people striking each other with poles on what appears to be the grounds surrounding the temple. The protestors carrying Khalistani flags clashed with people and disrupted a consular event co-organised by the temple authorities and the Indian Consulate.
