In a statement on X, the agency said the exam was conducted successfully under comprehensive security and surveillance. "NTA's attention has been drawn to a fabricated video being circulated on social media regarding NEET (UG) 2026. The video is fake and the claims it makes are false," the statement said. "The video is FAKE and the claims it makes are false," it said. The agency said manufacturing and deliberately circulating such misinformation to defraud or alarm students was a "serious offence." "NTA, with the support of I4C and law-enforcement agencies, is taking action against those responsible for originating this content," the agency said. The NTA appealed to students, parents and the public to rely only on the official website and the agency's verified social media handles for information and not to amplify such material. "O

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday took a swipe at the government after it temporarily restricted access to Telegram, saying the "new trick" was akin to putting a lock on the victim's house instead of catching the thief. Instant messaging app Telegram has stopped working for existing users in India after the government temporarily restricted access to the app, but it continues to remain operational through the Virtual Protocol Network (VPN). Google delisted the app on Tuesday, and Apple's Appstore has also removed it now in compliance with the government order to block access to the app, ahead of the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination. In a post in Hindi on X, Gandh said, "'Telegram Ban' -- Modi government's new trick to stop paper leaks. Meaning, instead of catching the thief, just put a lock on the victim's door." "Lakhs of students have been studying on Telegram for years -- notes, test series, discussions, preparation. How does snatching that facility become the solution to pap
The arrangements for a high-level, classified, military-grade security and AI face recognition for NEET retest on June 21 only add to the already ballooning exam pressure of candidates and would create a new set of problems, former BJP state chief K Annamalai said on Tuesday. Expressing concern over the kind of security to be enforced on the young minds for conducting the NEET retest, Annamalai said "while the government has taken measures to contain leaks, they have forgotten the additional burden they have imposed on a student before they take up an assessment, one that they have spent months preparing for, dissolving the entire purpose of our exam system and the NEP 2020's goal to reduce "exam stress". "Two-tier CRPF+CISF escort with IAF airlift. 4-layer CCTV with AI surveillance. Biometric & facial recognition before entry. Multiple layers of frisking. Multi-level oversight with direct monitoring from the prime minister's office. Yes, you read it right. But these are not ...
AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday slammed the central government over the alleged NEET paper leak, saying the country's education system has fallen into the "clutches of the mafia". Reacting to reports that NEET papers would be transported to exam centres by the Indian Air Force, Kejriwal said that Centre has no intention of getting to the bottom of the paper leaks, and was instead making such bizarre moves (nautanki). "Air Force will be used to prevent paper leaks in NEET. Will this stop paper leaks? How is our government talking like uneducated people? World over so many exams are conducted, have we ever heard any such bizarre thing " Kejriwal said in a post on X in Hindi. "They don't even have the intention to stop paper leaks. The country's education system has completely fallen into the clutches of the mafia," the former Delhi chief minister said. To fix this, everyone will have to come together and do something, Kejriwal said in a video message. "It won't happ

The Supreme Court on Wednesday sought responses from the Centre and others on a plea challenging the decision of the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) to drastically reduce the qualifying cut-off percentiles for NEET-PG 2025-26. A bench of Justices P S Narasimha and Alok Aradhe issued notices to the Union of India, the NBEMS, the National Medical Commission and others. The matter is listed for next hearing on February 6. With over 18,000 postgraduate medical seats across the country remaining vacant, the Board revised the qualifying percentiles for NEET-PG 2025 admissions, reducing it to zero from 40 percentile for reserved categories -- which will make even those scoring as low as minus 40 out of 800 to take part in the third round of counselling for PG medical seats. According to the notice published by NBEMS, the NEET PG cutoff for the general category has been reduced to seven percentile from 50. The top court was hearing a plea filed by social worker .
