Parliament session will signal unity against terrorism: Sachin Pilot

Senior Congress leader Sachin Pilot on Sunday reiterated the opposition party's demand for convening a special session of Parliament, which he said would send a message of unity in India's fight against Pakistan-sponsored terrorism to the world. He also demanded the government's "clarification" on facts regarding the Pahalgam terror attack, Operation Sindoor, and the "ceasefire" announcement. Pilot was speaking to reporters after visiting the family of Dinesh Mirania, a Raipur-based businessman who was killed by terrorists in Pahalgam on April 22. Addressing the media, he said that though a "ceasefire" has been announced, the government should clarify whether it was assured that Pakistan will not carry out any misadventure in future. "We want the forces responsible for such incidents (Pahalgam attack) to be destroyed forever. A ceasefire has been declared for now, but there should have been credible assurances (to ensure that such incidents do not recur in the future)," Pilot said.

When Congress, Rahul decide, govt has to accept it: Pilot on caste census

Congress leader Sachin Pilot on Thursday claimed that the government's caste census decision was the result of the pressure exerted by Rahul Gandhi and said the country has seen that when the party and the Leader of the Opposition resolve to get something done, the Centre has to accept it. Pilot also said the caste census should be done in a scientific, detailed and transparent manner as has been done in Telangana. The caste census should not be done superficially, Pilot told PTI Videos here. "Rahul Gandhi has been raising this (caste census) issue for a long time, but the BJP and the government kept opposing it, saying it is not in the interest of the country and it would divide the country. Senior Congress leader Sachin Pilot on Friday slammed the Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government for allegedly failing to curb migration of labourers and tackling rising unemployment in the state. Pilot, the former deputy CM of Rajasthan, told reporters, "The Nitish Kumar-led government has miserably failed to stop the migration of labourers from Bihar to other parts of the country. It has also failed to provide jobs to the youth. Kumar, who has been Chief Minister for several years, must take responsibility for the growing unemployment in the state." Pilot further alleged that the recruitment process in Bihar lacks transparency. "There are hardly any examinations that are conducted fairly and without controversy. This government is unable to provide jobs to the youth. The NDA government in the state is anti-poor and anti-youth," he said. "Congress is the only party that works for the uplift and betterment of the socially marginalised and economically weaker sections. We are equally ...

Pilot slams govt over US tariffs, says India bending to foreign pressure

In a scathing attack on the government over the imposition of tariffs by the US, Congress general secretary Sachin Pilot on Sunday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi should have worked out a constructive solution during his last America visit rather than just indulging in "photo ops" and exchanging gifts. He said that at a time when the world is responding to the imposition of reciprocal tariffs by the US, the Indian government is merely buying time and leaving everything to fate. In an interview with PTI, the former minister for Corporate Affairs said the Indian government is accepting what has been given out and has not even offered a response. "I would imagine, when the PM was in Washington (in February) and met the president of the US, instead of just photo ops and exchanging gifts, something more constructive should have come out of it," Pilot said. "If our relations are as strong as the two leaders claim, then we would not have been slapped with these steep tariffs. Clearly, o

Maharashtra polls: Pilot says MVA will decide on CM's name within a day

Confident of an MVA win in Maharashtra, Congress general secretary Sachin Pilot on Friday said there would not be any issue among alliance constituents in deciding on the CM post after getting a majority and it would not take more than a day to "figure out who will get what position".
