HDFC Bank, India&rsquo;s second-largest private sector lender, on Friday said its net profit for the quarter ended December rose 30 per cent to Rs 1,859 crore, compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.

Raghav Bahl-promoted TV18 Broadcast Ltd has returned to profitability. The company, which houses the entertainment, infotainment, news channels and the motion pictures business, has reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 21.3 crore in the quarter ended December 31, 2012. In the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal, the company had posted a net loss of Rs 53.5 crore.

TTK Prestige has reported close to 28 per cent jump in net profit to Rs 44.10 crore for the third quarter of FY13 as compared to Rs 34.57 crore during the corresponding previous quarter. The sales grew almost 31 per cent to Rs 445 crore. Operating profit grew by 16.6 per cent to Rs 63 crore, while the operating margins dipped to 14.18 per cent from 15.9 per cent due to product mix and seasonal promotions.

Housing Development Finance Corporation reported net profit (standalone) of Rs 1,140 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2012, up 16.17% from Rs 981.25 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.

SpiceJet has reported a profit of Rs 102 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2012, as compared to loss of Rs 39 crore in the same period the prior year. Revenue for the third quarter ended December 31, 2012 increased by 37% to Rs 1,603 crore as compared to Rs 1,173 crore of the corresponding quarter a year ago.

Mid-cap IT products and services firm Mastek, reported net profit of Rs 7.6 crore for the second quarter ended December 31, 2012, from a net loss of Rs 1.52 crore in the corresponding quarter.

NTPC Ltd, India&rsquo;s largest power generator, reported a 21.8% jump in net profit for the quarter ended December at the back of improved capacity addition leading to higher generation and lower raw material cost. The company posted a net profit of Rs 2,596.7 crore during the third quarter as compared to Rs 2,130.3 crore during the same period last year.

Vadodara-based Alembic Pharmaceuticals Limited reported a 9.1 per cent growth in net profit for the quarter ended December 31, at Rs 48.27 crore, as against Rs 44.23 crore in the corresponding quarter last fiscal mainly on the back of a 15 per cent growth in its domestic formulations business. The company posted total revenue of Rs 372.05 crore for the quarter, a drop of 2.81 per cent compared to Rs 382.82 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. The profit before tax, however, grew by 12.2 per cent to Rs 60.09 crore for the quarter under review. The domestic formulations business posted sales of Rs 227.64 crore against Rs 198.78 crore with a 15 per cent growth over the corresponding quarter of the previous year.

Mumbai-headquartered Asian Paints reported a 30.5 per cent rise in consolidated net profit for the quarter ended December 31, as consumer demand for painting and repainting jobs remained high during the three-month period due to festivals such as Dussehra, Diwali and Christmas. Net profit was Rs 335 crore in the quarter versus Rs 257 crore in the corresponding period last year.

Pune based mid-sized&nbsp; IT services and solutions firm Zensar Technologies, part of the RPG Group, has posted a net profit at Rs 48.7, down by 7 per cent at 52.29&nbsp; crore for the third quarter FY12 ended December 31, 2012. Revenue for the quarter increased 9 per cent to Rs 524.78 crore from Rs 480.83 crore in the same quarter last year.

Low-cost carrier SpiceJet on Monday reported a net profit of Rs 102 crore for the quarter ended December, against a net loss of Rs 39 crore in the same period last year. Its strong performance was aided by an increase in average fares, besides innovative international forays on less competitive routes and paring of fuel costs as a percentage of revenue.
