Delhi Capitals have confirmed their top 3 spot in the Women's Premier League 2025 as they race to a comfortable 9-wicket win against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who fell to their 4th successive defeat in their campaign and that too at home. Shafali Verma's fiery 43-ball 80 runs paired along with Jonassen's resilient fifty made sure that Delhi solidified their top spot in the points table on the night, taking them to 10 points. Despite of skipper Meg Lanning losing her wicket cheaply in the beginning, it was Shafali and Jonassen who steadied the ship for the side and took them cruising towards the modest 148-run target in the end. Earlier, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women set a 148-run targetagainst the Delhi Capitals courtesy of a resilient innings by Elysse Perry on the night yet again. Losing openers Smriti Mandhana and Wyatt-Hodge early in the innings did put the home side under pressure but it was Perry who handed back the momentum to the side. Perry's 47-ball 60 runs was the only inspiring knock on the day as she had to single-handedly take RCb to a respectable total in order to try and break that losing streak on the night. Shikha Pandey and debutant N Charani finished their spells with 2 scalps each as they were crucial for their sides in order to restrict the hosts below 150 on the night. Pitch report from the middle: The side boundaries are 55m and 59m. The straight boundary is 69m on one side. Mithali feels the pitch is on the slower side. The grass has been shaved and it is brown in colour. The ball might not come on and she says 150 is a good score on this. If the bowler tries to turn the ball she will get a bit of spin but as the match wears on it will ease out think Anjum and Mithali.
In contrast, Delhi Capitals are coming off a dominant win over Mumbai Indians and sit comfortably at the top of the table with four victories from six matches. Their bowling and fielding have been impressive, consistently restricting opponents to low totals. With an eye on securing another win before heading to Lucknow for the third leg of the tournament, DC will be eager to maintain their winning momentum.
