No new projects in TN, despite increase in revenue, claims AIADMK gen sec

Two more arrested in Andaman coop bank scam

Andaman and Nicobar State Cooperative Bank Ltd (ANSCBL) director K. Subramanian and tour operator M Sajid were arrested in connection with a loan irregularities case, police said on Tuesday. Andaman and Nicobar Islands SSP Jitendra Kumar Meena said the duo was arrested on Monday night. "Further investigation is on. They shall be produced before the CJM court later in the day," he added.

Centre warns SHRESHTA schools against charging fees from SC students

The central government has warned schools participating in its flagship SHRESHTA scheme for Scheduled Caste (SC) students against charging for admission, uniforms, books and other expenses in violation of guidelines. The warning was issued after several reports of schools demanding money under various heads such as security deposits, picnic fees, medical costs, books, uniforms and stationery.

Iran's government has issued a new death toll for its war with Israel, saying at least 1,060 people were killed and warning that the figure could rise. 6 injured as miscreants attack bus on Karnal-Meerut road in Haryana

Six people were injured on when a private bus returning to Karnal (Haryana) from Meerut (Uttar Pradesh) after a wedding was attacked by unidentified miscreants who stole cash and jewellery, police said on Tuesday. After the incident, which took place on Monday night, the groom, who was behind in another vehicle with his newly wed wife, reached the police station to file a complaint.

Raipur-bound IndiGo flight carrying 51 passengers returns to Indore shortly after takeoff

IndiGo flight 6E-7295, operating between Raipur and Indore, was forced to make an emergency landing at Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport on Tuesday morning after a technical issue was detected mid-air. Reports indicate that shortly after takeoff, the aircraft began displaying signs of a false alarm.

School van collides with train in TN's Cuddalore, two feared killed

Two people were feared killed after a school van crashed into a running train in Semmanguppam in the district this morning, police said. The van carrying students was flung a distance away from the level crossing after it was hit. The loco pilot managed to stop the train after traversing some distance, police said.

An FIR has been registered against cricketer Yash Dayal, who plays for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), for allegedly sexually exploiting a woman, police said on Tuesday. The FIR was registered against Dayal (27) at Indirapuram police station on Sunday under BNS Section 69 (sexual intercourse by deceitful means, including a false promise of marriage), a senior police official said.

Key suspect in Gopal Khemka's murder killed in police encounter in Patna

A key suspect in the murder of industrialist Gopal Khemka was killed in a gunfight with the police in Patna's Damaria Ghat area in the early hours of Tuesday, officials said. Vikas alias Raja (29), the suspect, was wanted in several other criminal cases as well, they said. Acting on a tip-off, the team of officers probing the murder case reached Damaria Ghat around 2.25 am in search of Vikas, an official said.
