Bookings have commenced for Honda’s upcoming compact SUV, the BR-V, for a token amount of INR 21,000 at dealerships across the country.
The SUV, which was showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo, will go on sale post its official launch on May 5, 2016.
Based on the same platform as the Brio, Amaze, and the Mobilio, the compact SUV gets a new design. Though it looks like an MPV, Honda insists it is an SUV. The top-spec variant of BR-V will get elements such as projector headlamps, a healthy garnish of chrome on the grille, fog lamps, and 16-inch alloy wheels.
When it comes to the interiors, the SUV gets a typical Honda cabin and sports an all-black interior with dull silver accents thrown in to accentuate the finer details.

Hyundai Motor India announced expansion of its dealership network in Hyderabad, Telangana, on Wednesday.
The four new dealerships based on GDSI (Global Dealership Space Identity) will offer modern and premium experience to customers with a portfolio of 10 trendsetter and award winning brands. 
The dealerships include south India's first digital automotive experience outlet at Saboo Hyundai in Secunderabad. The dealerships will be located in Bowenpally (Fusion Hyundai), LakdiKaPul (Kun United Car Trax Pvt. Ltd), Jubilee Hills (Talwar Hyundai) and Secunderabad areas.

The 2017 Mercedes CLA facelift has arrived in India for homologation, ahead of its official launch expected later in the year.
According to Import Data, Mercedes-Benz India has imported both the CLA 200 petrol and 220d diesel for homologation purposes. Mercedez-Benz India imports 2017 CLA Facelift for homologation

Toyota is all set to launch its new-generation Fortuner in India by the end of this year. It was earlier reported to arrive in late-2017.
The new Toyota Fortuner will be locally manufactured at Toyota Kirloskar Motor's plant in Karnataka and is expected to be priced between Rs. 22 lakh and Rs. 28 lakh.  
Engine line-up for the new Fortuner will be sourced from the Toyota Innova Crysta, which includes a 2.4-litre GD diesel engine with 149 PS and 343 Nm of torque and a 2.8-litre GD diesel engine that produces 177 PS and 360 Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearboxes, while a 4WD system will be offered at the top-end grade.
As regards the design trend, the new Toyota Fortuner adopts a sharp styling that is a departure from the current model. In terms of dimensions, it is 90 mm longer and 15 mm wider than the older Fortuner. It is also 15 mm shorter in height, though engineers have managed to retain the 2,750 mm wheelbase.

2016 Toyota Fortuner to be launched in India by year end 

Hyundai has opened bookings for the Creta SX+ petrol automatic and Creta S+ diesel automatic. While the booking amount has been set at Rs 25,000, dealers have started accepting bookings across the country with deliveries being promised around the festive season.
Currently available only in the diesel SX+ trim, Hyundai will extend the use of the six-speed gearbox to a lower-spec diesel Creta and in the petrol engine model as well. However, there is no word on pricing yet.
The petrol automatic Creta will use a six-speed torque converter automatic gearbox paired to the 1.6-litre petrol engine. The features of the petrol automatic Creta will mirror those of the top-spec automatic diesel variant as it too will be based on the SX+ trim.
Hyundai also has plans to introduce a lower S+ trim of the diesel automatic Creta. Being a level below the SX+ trim, the S+ diesel automatic will have limited features and will miss out on the keyless entry and go, climate control, diamond-cut alloy wheels, .

Renault’s Fluence was the least sold car in FY2016 with just 113 units sold, according to data released by Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).

With Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal issuing a strict warning against overcharging by app based services during the implementation of the odd-even vehicle rationing scheme, both Ola and Uber decided to temporarily suspend surge pricing in the capital on Monday. 
Said Gagan Bhatia, general manager, Uber North: “Given the threat of the Delhi government to cancel permits and impound vehicles of our driver partners, we are temporarily suspending surge pricing in Delhi with immediate effect. We hope to work with the government to keep Delhi moving, especially during this time when the citizens need us the most."

Ola, Uber temporarily withdraw surge pricing in Delhi after Kejriwal warning

Bookings for Maruti Suzuki's premium hatchback Baleno has crossed the one lakh-mark. So far, 55,000 units have been delivered while the rest of the bookings remain un-serviced due to high demand and limited production.
With higher demand for Baleno, the car maker is struggling to meet the demand on current production and there's a waiting period of up to six months. 
Launched in October 2015, Maruti Suzuki is expected to target a production capacity of 1.6 lakh units for the Baleno in its first year (10,000 up from the initial target). The company is also expected to accept export orders of not more than 50,000 units. 
In order to balance demand and supply in the domestic market, the company is running its plants in Haryana at near-full capacity and the only option to squeeze extra units of the Baleno is at the cost of other models.

French car company Peugeot has set its eyes on the Indian car market and plans to enter here by 2018. The car maker plans to get into a partnership with an Indian company to start its new foray in the sub-continent. 
Peugeot, which is expected to make India its manufacturing base for domestic and export markets, is likely to launch its products before the end of 2021.
Peugeot's Indian entry is considered as a part of the company’s aggressive ‘Push to Pass’ growth plan for the period 2016-2021. Peugeot eyes entry into India before end of 2021 

With over a lakh of cars booked and sold since its launch in November last year, the success of Renault's Kwid has compelled leading auto manufacturers such as Hyundai and Maruti to relook the design of their future models. 
Says a senior official at Maruti Suzuki: "There is a global trend of crossovers penetrating the compact car segment and that body style along with affordable pricing make for an interesting option for Indian consumers. The design for the new Alto is yet to be frozen for India but clearly a consideration of crossover body style is being looked at."
It is learnt that Maruti Suzuki is considering introduction of the next Alto in a tall boy, crossover avatar by 2018.

Kwid\'s success compels rivals to relook design of future models

With Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal promising the auto and taxi drivers union that he would take action against app based taxi services like Uber and Ola that charge heavily during peak hours, the latter have called off their proposed strike, which was to start on Monday.
"We had a three-hour long meeting with transport minister Gopal Rai and several officers of the department," said Rajendra Soni, vice president of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), "The minister has agreed to take action against erring app-based taxi services and has also agreed to look into all other demands for which we had been fighting for the past two months."
The unions had demanded "uniform charges" for cab operators like Ola and Uber and their compliance with the Delhi government rules on fares.
Earlier, in the day the Delhi government had approached the Lieutenant Governor to intervene and provide safety to the auto and taxi drivers willing to ply if the strike takes place.

The Delhi government's odd-even scheme that allows cars having odd registration numbers to ply on odd dates and those having even numbers to ply on even dates may soon witness major changes with even two wheelers being brought under its purview. 
At present, the scheme exempts VIPs, women, school going children, medical emergencies, commercial vehicles and CNG cars and two-wheelers. The odd-even scheme was first introduced in January to decrease pollution in the national capital and found favour with a lot of citizens as it brought down traffic on the roads considerably.

Delhi government plans major changes to odd-even scheme

The country's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India has topped the chart of bestselling cars in India with six of its models featuring in the top-10 list for the just concluded fiscal.
The company, which had five models in the top-10 selling cars in 2014-15, saw its compact model Celerio enter the list at the seventh position in 2015-16. Besides, volume share of the company in the top-10 models has shot up to 73 per cent with six of its models accounting for 10.29 lakh units out of a total of 14.19 lakh units sold in the fiscal.
The company's volume share in the top 10 stood at 68 per cent in 2014-15 with sales of 9.12 lakh units. As per the data, the company's Alto, Dzire, Swift and WagonR were the first, second, third and fourth biggest selling models during the fiscal.
The company sold 2.63 lakh units of Alto during 2015-16 compared with 2.64 lakh units in 2014-15. It was followed by compact sedan Dzire, with 2.34 lakh  units sold. The company had sold 2.1 lakh units of the sedan in

The fourth generation Fiat Punto will make its debut towards the end of 2016. Fiat has started to extensively test the fourth-generation Punto ahead of its unveiling later this year, before its launch in international markets in 2017. 
Codenamed X6H, the next-gen hatchback will be based on a stretched iteration of the Fiat 326 modular architecture.

Polaris India has launched the all-new 2016 Springfield, priced at Rs 30.6 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The official bookings for the new touring motorcycle have already commenced and deliveries will begin from August onwards.
Named after the company's headquarters in Springfield, Massachusetts, this performance cruiser features a trunk-compatible chassis for higher loading capacity.
