Hyundai Motors on Tuesday released ‘Drive Mein Junoon,’ an innovative music video featuring musicians Arijit Singh and Clinton Cerejo and its Elite i20.
‘Drive Mein Junoon’ is a unique song composed from 118 sounds derived exclusively from the Elite i20, all of which were recorded in a single day. The sounds include the sound of wipers, pulling of the hand brake, turning the indicator on and off, seat belt warning sound, opening and shutting of door and windows, engine revving etc. 
It does not feature any musical instruments but captures the essence of creation and exemplifies Hyundai’s commitment to promote various facets of music through extraordinary initiatives by New Thinking New Possibilities.

Google announced on Tuesday that its Android Auto service will be available in India and 17 other countries. Introduced last year, the Android Auto allows the in-dash entertainment system of a car to stream music, relay messages and calls and offer provide directions.
The app automatically provides useful information and organises it into simple cards that appear when they are needed. These include Google Maps (with free voice-guided navigation, live traffic information and lane guidance), Google Play Music, access to phone calls and text messages, and several apps.
“Android Auto was designed with safety in mind,” says a Google statement. “With a simple and intuitive interface, integrated steering wheel controls, and powerful new voice actions, it's designed to minimise distraction so you can stay focused on the road.”

About 200 motorsport enthusiasts are participating in the Maruti Suzuki Desert Storm rally, which was flagged off from the Great India Place Mall, Noida, on Sunday.
Covering a total of 2,000 km, the rally will steer through the sand dunes and rocky terrains of Hanumanagarh, Bikaner, Jaisalmer and Jodhpur in Rajasthan. The last leg of the rally will conclude in the sandy expanse of Jodhpur on April 10 with a prize distribution ceremony.

Tata Motors has announced “a set of stupendous records” in an 18-day, non-stop high-speed drive with its three cars – Zest, Bolt and the upcoming Tiago – on the 4.2 km long National Centre of Automotive Testing high-speed test track at the Vehicle Research & Development Establishment facility in Ahmednagar.
The new generation cars underwent the ultimate endurance run in scorching temperatures for the GearedForGreat Challenge and achieved multiple record-breaking distances culminating at 50,000km each with an average speed of around 120 kmph, succesfully clocking 360 records in a single event.

About 22,000 electric vehicles were sold in India in fiscal 2015-16, a 37.5 per cent growth over the previous financial year, according to the Society of Manufacturers of Electric Vehicles (SMEV).
“We are quite delighted at the growing numbers, which reflects increased awareness among commuters and the fact that people are seeing a good value proposition in EVs, said Sohinder Gill, director corporate affairs, SMEV. This is the first time that sales of EVs has grown over the last four years.
However, a mere 2,000 of these vehicles were four-wheelers and the rest were two- or three-wheelers. The Indian government, under its National Electric Mobility Mission Plan 2020 and Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles has ambitious plans of the market expanding for EVs to expand to six million units by 2020.
“It would be tough to achieve the target unless ground level infrastructural deficiencies were removed and credit facilities eased for buying green vehicles,” said the SMEV.

Increased acceptance of the Camry Hybrid has seen sales of Toyota Camry jump by a massive 46 per cent in fiscal 2015-16, as against the figure for the previous financial year.
Toyota India has attributed more than 90 per cent this growth to the increasing acceptance of the hybrid model in India.

Mahindra launches Mojo across 11 states in India

Delhi-based company Promto has launched the city's first ever eco-friendly two-wheeler electric bike-taxi service in the national capital to address the gap of last mile connectivity for local commuters.
In the first phase, Promto has deployed a fleet of 20 battery operated bikes, which will be available from Connaught Place to give rides within a radius of five km with a minimal charge of Rs. 5 per km.
The ambitious team of four at Promto - Nikhil Malik, Karan Chadha, Pawneesh Rampal and Romesh Kumar - decided to roll out a greener way of tackling Delhi's ongoing war against air pollution through battery operated bikes equipped with in-built GPS systems, verified and well-mannered drivers as and when required.

Promto launches first electric bike-taxi service in Delhi 

Maruti Suzuki dispatched 5,563 units of its new compact SUV Vitara Brezza in March, according to reports. The company, which commenced bookings for the SUV on March 8, began the deliveries only on March 25.
Priced at Rs. 6.99 lakh, Vitara Brezza is a competition to the likes of Renault Duster and Ford EcoSport.
Maruti Suzuki had initially planned production of 80,000 units per year, but later increased it to 100,000 units owing to the strong reception the model got at the Auto Expo 2016, it is reported.
Powered by a 1.3 litre diesel engine, Brezza's claimed fuel efficiency of 24.3 kms makes it the most fuel efficient SUV in the country. 
The four-cylinder engine produces 89bhp of max power at 4000rpm and a torque of 200Nm at 1750rpm.
Maruti plans to launch two new models, Ignis and Baleno RS, in the festival period of 2016 as it looks to carry forward the momentum from FY16 with a double-digit growth in FY17.

Tesla Motors, which unveiled its relatively lower-priced Model 3 sedan near Los Angeles on Thursday, plans to launch the vehicle in India as well.
“Adding several more countries to Model 3 order page tonight,” tweeted Elon Musk, CEO, Tesla Motors. “Check for details, but will include India, Brazil, SA, SK, NZ, Sing & Ireland.”

Mahindra & Mahindra sold 52,718 units in March, a 17 per cent rise against auto sales in the same month in 2015. The Passenger Vehicles segment (which includes UVs, Cars and Vans) sold 26,885 units in March, a growth of 21%. 
The company's domestic sales stood at 48,967 units during March as against 41,105 units in the same month last year. The Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicles segment sold 879 units, registering a growth of 86%. Exports for March 2016 stood at 3,751 units.
“At Mahindra we are happy to have achieved an overall growth of 17% during March 2016 and 6% for FY2016, despite various challenges,” said Pravin Shah, president & chief executive (Automotive), M&M Ltd. “The last financial year was significant for us considering the number of new product launches, which were well received by our customers, leading to a positive growth both in domestic and overseas markets.”

Mahindra sees 21 per cent growth in passenger vehicles sales in March

Ssangyong Motors, part of the Mahindra group, sold 13,010 units in March, including 3,941 cars that were exported.
According to the company, global sales surged by 23% from the previous month and 1.1% from the same month last year thanks to sales uptrend of Tivoli and Tivoli Air (Export name: XLV), which has led the company's domestic sales growth in South Korea along with Tivoli since its launch in early March.
Ssangyong's domestic sales recorded 9,069 units, up 29.9% from the previous month and 17.5% from the same month last year helped by robust sales of Tivoli brand models that jumped by 69.7% compared to March 2015 and its other main SUVs.
Ssangyong's exports in March soared by 9.7% over the previous month thanks to Tivoli Air exports to the European markets, while its year-on-year exports dropped by 23.5% due to reduced demands in the emerging markets.

Samsung has launched its Galaxy J3 smartphone featuring an ‘S bike mode,’ which enables bikers to ride without being distracted by calls.
Once the S bike mode is activated, a caller trying to reach the two-wheeler rider will be informed by an automated answering machine that the subscriber is on a bike or scooter and cannot take a call.
The caller, in case of urgency, can press 1, which will alert the rider. He/she can then stop the vehicle and take the call.
“Samsung is constantly in the pursuit of meaningful innovations that make people's lives better,” Asim Warsi, senior vice-president, Samsung India Electronics. “The S bike mode is a result of that vision. While studying the consumers' phone usage behaviour, we realised that incoming calls are a major distraction to bikers.”

Suzuki India had recently surprised its fans by announcing the local assembly of the popular and iconic motorcycle Hyabusa at its plant in Manesar, Gurgaon along with a huge price cut.
Now, the made-in-India superbike comes with two additional items - saree guard and front license plate holder - which are not seen on the models that are made in Japan. Both items are mandated by the Indian government. While they do take away some of the Busa’s stunning road presence, the good news is they are easily removable.

The suggestion came after the court rejected the complaint of heavy and medium truck manufacturers that registration authorities in the National Capital Region had misinterpreted the apex court's order banning sale of diesel cars and SUVs with engine capacity of 2000 cc or more and were refusing to register trucks and buses.
