High-tech glass company Corning is bullish on growth from mobile consumer electronics and life sciences businesses in India, a senior company official said on Thursday.
The automotive and optical fibre business is the biggest revenue contributor to the company in the country, at present.
Corning which started business by providing glass cover for bulb invented by Thomas Alva Edison has expanded into several verticals to provide glass technology ranging from electronics display protection cover for mobile, television displays, semiconductor manufacturing, space telescopes to glass based packaging for labs, vaccines etc.

Aviation watchdog DGCA has ordered a special audit of flying training organisations in the country amid recent accidents involving training aircraft.
The audit of flying training organisations (FTOs) will be conducted in three phases from September to November 2024.
It will cover 33 FTOs.
"This audit aims to thoroughly assess the safety standards, operational procedures, and systemic deficiencies within flying training organisations to ensure the highest levels of safety and compliance," DGCA said in a release on Thursday.
The regulator said the move follows a series of recent training aircraft incidents that have sparked concerns regarding the compliance of FTOs with respect to the established aviation regulations and safety protocols.
The last such special audit was conducted in 2022.
"The audit will scrutinise each FTO's adherence to DGCA's regulatory standards, including aircraft maintenance, airworthiness, and training operations," the release said.

The son of a patient admitted to a private medical establishment in Kolkata allegedly threatened a doctor there that she would end up with the same fate as the medic of the RG Kar hospital, police said on Thursday.
The police started an investigation following a complaint was lodged in this regard.
An on-duty junior doctor of the state-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital was raped and murdered inside the facility on August 9.
A 58-year-old female patient was admitted to the private hospital on Monday with complaints of shortness of breath and altered mental status, a term used to describe various disorders of mental functioning.
"The patient's son and his friends have been abusing the hospital staff. They even threatened a doctor inside the ICU last night that her condition would be like that of the RG Kar hospital doctor," an official of the private facility said.
The hospital is exercising restraint considering the critical condition of the patient, he said.
