Farmers' delegation meets finance minister Jaitley to discuss on land bill

New Delhi, June 10 (ANI): A delegation representing farmers from across India discussed the central government's contentious land acquisition bill with finance minister Arun Jaitley on Wednesday. The meet comes days after representatives met with Jaitley on May 28 and demanded inclusion of a consent clause in the bill that enables the government to acquire land for certain purposes like security and defence, etcetera. Certain suggestions had been posed to Jaitley during that meet which the farmers had again stressed on Wednesday. This was the second attempt by the central government to reach out to farmers after opposition parties forced the government to refer the bill to a joint parliamentary panel for more debate.
