Born in 1966, BJP leader Shobha Karandlaje is an MoS for the Ministry of Labour and Employment and the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME). She is also a Lok Sabha MP from Bangalore North, Karnataka. Karandlaje hails from Puttur in Coastal Karnataka. Notably, the coastal belt of Karnataka is considered a hot-bed of Hindutva politics.
