Lexus is getting aggressive with new product launches. After the new GS, now comes the new IS, featuring Lexus' L-Finesse design philosophy. The new IS makes history by being the first Lexus to come with a diesel engine option.

The 2200cc four-cylinder all-aluminium diesel produces 175 bhp and a superb 43 kgm of torque at just 2000 rpm.

A new direct injection 2500cc V6 petrol will also be available with the option of a six-speed automatic transmission with paddle-shift. Trust Lexus to take the refinement benchmark a notch above.

People career

The first generation Opel Zafira was a hit (1.4 million units sold!) mainly because of its innovative and versatile interiors, called Flex7.

Now, the all-new Zafira promises to take it a bit further with its 21st century looks borrowed from the Astra. It's about as big as the car it replaces and has most of the same powertrains as well.

The engines vary from 1600cc to 2200cc, with outputs ranging from 100 bhp to 200 bhp. The top-of-the-line unit is the 2000cc turbocharged petrol developing 200 horses. A 1900cc turbodiesel, with three power output options " 100, 120 and 150 bhp " also makes an appearance.
