A significantly high percentage of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in India feel that their interests are not being looked after by the Government, report said.

"A staggering 56 per cent of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) propelling the growth in India, feel that their interests are overlooked by the Government," a survey conducted by Regus, said.

With SMEs accounting for 45 per cent of industrial output, employing over 60-million people and expected to produce 22 per cent of the economy by 2010, this could have strong implications on the nation's economy, the Regus survey said.

Regus is the world's largest provider of workplace solutions, with products and services ranging from fully- equipped offices to professional meeting rooms, business lounges and the world's largest network of video communication studios.

Globally, nearly 75 per cent of business-owners feel that the interests of SMEs are typically neglected by the Government, it said.

The survey canvassed the opinions of over 5,000 entrepreneurs in 78 countries asking them about their recent revenue and profit trends, along with their main concerns and causes of stress in the past year.
