ACC Rs 1 lakh home for tribals

Cement major ACC Ltd will construct houses on a 250 square feet plot of land at a cost of Rs 1 lakh for middle and lower middle class tribals living in West Singhbhum district.

ACC has a manufacturing unit at Jhinkpani there.

According to the technical expert of ACC, G Ghosal, each tribal house will have a bedroom, kitchen, bathroom and corridor.

ACC has been working on a plan for a long time to construct homes at a minimum cost as residential accommodation for tribal people adopting 'ferro-cement technique' for the project.

Ghosal said that ACC would also construct extra rooms on demand of the house owners at an additional cost of Rs 40,000 for each room.

Interested individuals who wanted a readymade house would have to provide land for a house.

The cement company said the houses would offer special security like shock resistance and earthquake tolerance.
