A senior spokesperson for ACS confirmed that their Indian operations will add approximately 100 more people to work on a GE project and these positions will be filled by existing staff and new hires.
ACS currently provides a range of finance and accounting BPO services to GE, which include document management, imaging, data capture, data correction and information services.
ACS' India centre in currently based out of Bangalore and employs 1,600 professionals and is expected to add 200 to 250 more employees over the next few months.
According to sources in ACS, this additional work from GE is expected to start from August 2004. ACS started BPO operations in Bangalore around one and half years ago and has plans to increase this strength to 3,000 by April 2005.
The company is also scouting for its second centre in the country which will be a toss up between Hyderabad or Chennai, with Hyderabad tipped to be the final location.
However on ACS' expansion plans in India, the spokesperson said: "We cannot comment on future business. ACS has a growing centre of operations in India and we support both BPO and IT services from this location."
