Adecco India, the Indian arm of the Switzerland-based HR company Adecco Group, is expanding its branch network across smaller Indian cities. Adecco, which now has 40 branches, now aims to open in all 80 branches by the end of 2010.
To begin with, 20 branches will be added to the existing 40 branches, taking it to 60 by the end of March 2010. This will see Adecco’s entry into tier 2 and tier 3 cities where job opportunities are on the rise and tap the local talent pool, said Sudhakar Balakrishnan, managing director, Adecco India.
With the penetration levels of temping in the Indian organised employment market still remaining insignificant vis-a-vis developed markets, Adecco sees scope for its business despite the slowdown seen by industry during the global economic crisis seen in 2009.
Adecco believes the branch footprint will provide an opportunity for youth in semi-urban markets to exploit the job opportunities in retail, FMCG, telecom and infrastructure companies who will expand into smaller towns and cities.
The impact of urbanisation and ever-expanding road network will improve connectivity and is expected to enable organisations to expand their operations and Adecco aims support and service the hiring needs of these customers.
Adecco claims to have around 75,000 temps on its rolls, and over 1,000 clients across the country.
