In a filing to the BSE, the company informed that the board, in its meeting held today, has "decided for brownfield expansion of urea capacity by 3,850 TPD (tonnes per day) at existing fertiliser complex at Jagdishpur, UP".
"Such expansion is envisaged at a capex of around Rs 4,000 crore," it added.
Aditya Birla Nuvo is a $4.5 billion conglomerate by revenue size. The company, part of Aditya Birla Group, is present across financial Services, telecom, fashion & lifestyle,
IT-ITeS and manufacturing businesses.
Aditya Birla Nuvo's agri input business Indo Gulf manufactures and markets urea, agri-seeds and agrochemicals under the brand name Birla Shaktiman.
Its fertiliser unit in Uttar Pradesh has a production capacity of 864,600 tonnes per annum in the country, as per the information provided on its website.
Shares of the company closed marginally higher at Rs 1,162.15 today on the BSE.
