After Qatar, VA Tech Wabag bags Rs 10 bn order from Saudi Arabia

VA Tech Wabag, a leading pure-play water technology company, has been awarded a major EPC contract worth Rs 10 billion from Saudi Arabia's Power and Water Utility Company for Jubail and Yanbu (MARAFIQ).

The contract is for expansion works in a sewage water treatment plant in Jubail. 

The plant will be designed using activated sludge process to treat sewage water in accordance with the irrigation water quality standards as per Royal Commission Environmental Regulations 2015. MARAFIQ has planned to expand the plant upto a total capacity of 200 MLD in 2 phases, of which the present order win by Wabag pertains to Phase 1 with a capacity of 120 MLD, the company said.

Deep Raj Saxena, CEO Middle East & Africa Cluster, VA Tech Wabag, said the order was a major breakthrough for the company in Saudi Arabia and that it came in immediate succession to Rs 5.55 billion order win in Qatar. 

"These order wins, give us immense confidence on our long term growth plans in this region," Saxena said.
