In yet another move that shows the importance of the Indian market, Amazon India today launched a brand new store Amazon Global on the portal. India is the third market after China and Mexico where Amazon is bringing in over four million products in 12 categories from the United States which would be available on its Indian platform.

“Our Global store brings a host of international products to our Indian customers. Customers will get to see the fully landed price of a product in Indian currency and after adding import duties and taxes would be sold and shipped to the customer. At present a host of products available in Amazon US would be available in India, later on we will add more categories and countries from where products would be available here,” said Amit Agarwal, VP and Country Head, Amazon India.

He added that not only products but even big bang sale events such as the ‘Black Friday Sale’ which draws big crowds and sales numbers happening in United States would be shipped to India as well. “Any event happening globally can be brought to India,” added Agarwal.

Though customers can order product from Amazon’s US portal to India from sellers who are ready to ship them here, the Global Store makes the process more reliable. The company said that it would be only selling products from that are fall in the ambit of all laws in India.

A dedicated page on the Amazon website would be sold and Amazon would also facilitate in the returns the item if there are any issues. The company said that the purchased products can be expected to arrive in 10 to 15 days after placing the order.

The company has however made it clear that none of the products would be available on cash on delivery but on credit or debit cards, as well as netbanking. Global Store will also provide end-to-end tracking of shipment and notifications on all orders.

Agarwal further added that products shown in the Indian currency are based on currency conversion done by Amazon from the listing price of the corresponding item on Amazon’s US portal.

Other than fashion, Amazon would be showcasing a host of products from the US in categories such as sports and outdoors, home and kitchen, books, office supplies and electronics. Also Amazon made products such as electronics and fashion items available in US would be available in India as well.

The company has also started bringing in Amazon Prime, it exclusive membership, labeled products to India as well and has a host of items in this category as well.
