Ashok Kumar takes over as new Pharma secy

A 1974 batch Bihar cadre IAS officer, Kumar will now be in charge of the new department that entirely focuses on the development of Indian pharmaceutical industry. The department of pharmaceuticals will be responsible for the promotion and co-ordination of drug research, manufacturing and skilled manpower development.
The administrative charge of NPPA and five public sector drug manufacturing units such as  Bengal Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals Ltd, Hindustan Antibiotics Ltd, Indian Drugs and Pharmaceuticals Ltd, Karnataka Antibiotics and Pharmaceuticals Ltd and Rajasthan Drugs and Pharmaceuticals Ltd have also been vested with the new department.
