Bajaj motorcycle sales rise 14.62% in September

The country's second largest two-wheeler maker, Bajaj, today reported a 14.62 per cent increase in its motorcycle sales at 2,49,133 units in September.     

The company had sold 2,17,365 units in September last year, Bajaj Auto Ltd (BAL) said in a statement.     

Total two-wheeler sales during the month also increased by 14.33 per cent to 2,49,795 units compared with 2,18,494 units in the same period a year ago, it added.     

BAL's exports went up by 17.66 per cent to 80,681 units in September from 68,572 units a year ago. This was the highest ever monthly export reported by the company ever.     

Total vehicle sales of the company last month stood at 2,80,916 units, compared to 2,45,381 units in the same period a year ago, up by 14.48 per cent, the statement said.     

BAL's Kawasaki Ninja 250R will be launched on October 7 and the company hopes the new bike would add momentum to the growth in sales, it added.     

The company sold about 71,000 units of its new 100cc Discover DTS-Si in September. Besides, it also sold 56,000 units of Pulsar.     

BAL's cumulative motorcycle sales during the first six months of the current fiscal were, however, down by 3.37 per cent at 10,82,368 units as against 11,20,108 units during the same period last year.     

Its first half cumulative total sales were also down by 3.65 per cent at 10,85,901 units, against 11,27,073 units during the first six months of last fiscal.
