Barbeque Nation, the restaurant chain promoted by hospitality group Sayaji Hotels Limited (SHL), may spend around Rs 5 crore on new retail food outlets this year.

P R Chowdhury, chief executive officer of Barbeque Nation, said it was looking at coming up with two outlets in Jalandhar and Amritsar, at an approximate investment of Rs 2.5 crore each.

Each of the restaurants will be spread across approximately 5000 square feet(sq ft) area and will have around 125 seats.

It will also look at coming up with another outlet in Kolkata, 'preferably in the south' within another six months.

"We wanted to come up with an outlet in south Kolkata instead of Salt Lake, but could not find a suitable place. We intend to come up with another Barbeque Nation in south or central Kolkata for which talks are on," he added.

It currently runs 15 outlets in the country.

The food outlet in Kolkata is spread across 12,000 square feet area, cost Rs 3.5 crore and had 210 seats.

It will offer a menu comprising of five vegetarian and non vegetarian barbeque starters and aimed to introduce a 'live grill' concept wherein visitors could make their own marinade for the barbeque, claimed Chowdhury.

As a part of its hospitality business initiative, it is looking at coming up with a 254 room hotel in Pune at an investment of Rs 100 crore on a six acre plot.
