Bangalore-based public sector defence major Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) reported a 13 per cent rise in net profit to Rs 197.59 crore for the third quarter ended December 2012, compared with Rs 174.64 crore in the corresponding quarter last fiscal. Net sales increased marginally — 1 per cent — to Rs 1,444 crore as against Rs 1,432 crore. The operating profit went up 27 per cent to Rs 128 crore as against Rs 101 crore.
It has obtained permission from Sebi regarding segment reporting and thus not included quarterly results of its subsidiary company, BEL Optronic Devices Ltd and joint venture companies like GE BE Pvt Ltd and BEL Multitone Pvt Ltd.
