Bharti Airtel plans Rs 13,812 cr capex in FY12

Bharti Airtel Ltd, India's top mobile phone carrier, has earmarked as much as Rs 13,812 crore in capital expenditure for its various operations in this fiscal year that started on April 1, a senior official said on Thursday.

Bharti, which earlier reported a bigger-than-expected 31.5% fall in quarterly profit, plans $1.5 billion capital expenditure for India and South Asia business excluding mobile towers, said Manik Jhangiani, group CFO at the mobile operator's parent Bharti Enterprises.

The company sees Africa capital expenditure at $1 billion to $1.2 billion, while tower business investments are seen at $400 million in this fiscal year, he said.
