Bhaskar Das leaves Times Group after a 32-year stint

He might take up a consulting role at the Zee Group

Bhaskar Das, one of the longest serving member of the Times Group, is leaving the company, ending his 32-year stint. Das, who had joined the Times of India group in 1980 as management trainee, was subsequently promoted to the post of president and principal secretary to the managing director at Bennett, Coleman & Co. ltd. (BCCL).

Das was not reachable till the filing of this report, but highly placed sources in the company confirmed the development to Business Standard. It is also understood that he may join Subhash Chandra-promoted Zee Group in a consulting role for the TV and print business. Apart from the television channels, Chandra also owns the English daily DNA.

During his career at BCCL, he worked for 18 years in line function and profit centre and brand management during the another 14 years. Just after a year of joining as management trainee, he was appointed as head of the advertising and sales department in Gujarat, even before completing probation. Two years later, he took over as sales head of the Eastern Region in Kolkata and, in 1986, became the Profit Centre Head for East. In 1990, he was appointed Profit Centre Head of Gujarat and took over as Director of the Western Zone of Response (Ad sales) in 1995.

In 2005, he took over as the Executive President of BCCL and has been instrumental in maximisation of the company's volume and value market share by ensuring quality service to business constituents and driving value innovations.
