The net profit of M P Birla group company Birla Corporation decreased by 23.86 per cent to Rs 118.28 crore during the first quarter of the current fiscal, compared to Rs 155.34 crore in the corresponding period of the last fiscal.
The turnover of the company increased by 20.48 crore during the quarter to Rs 651.99 crore, compared to Rs 541.18 crore in the corresponding period of the previous year.
Company Chairman H V Lodha said in statement that margins during the period were affected by lower cement realisation and higher transportation charges, besides an increase in power and fuel costs.
De-bottlenecking of the clinker capacity at Satna in Madhya Pradesh was complete, and the capacity has been increased to 9,600 tpd from 7,400 tpd, he added.
