| Addressing a press conference, Anirudh Prabhakaran, director (sales and marketing) of Cable and Wireless India, said: "The managed services are augmented through a dedicated network node in the city, which is integrated with C&W's global network." The company has launched the services in association with Reliance Infocomm. |
| The company has invested around Rs 1 crore for the ATM (asynchronous transfer mode) node in the city, and in the country C&W has invested $10 million for MDS in India till date. "We are also the first global carrier to have a dedicated point-of-presence (PoP) in Hyderabad," he added. |
| Prabhakaran said that MDS is aimed at various businesses such as banking and finance, software development, BPO services and call centres. |
| C&W currently provides services like ATM, frame relay, network management, data centre design, contact centre design and implementation and MPL (managed private line) to its customers globally as well as in India. |
| "While all the services are available in Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai, we are only offering the ATM and MPL services in New Delhi and Hyderabad," Arvind Datye, business manager (managed data and network services) of C&W India said. |
| C&W currently has 180 employees in India across Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai, and plans to double it in the next 18 months. C&W India, which has its network operations centre (NOC) in Bangalore, also provides round the clock customer support. According to Prabhakaran around 170 global customers are managed from the Bangalore NOC. |
| The parent company's revenues for the financial year ended March 31, 2004, was £ 3.8 billion. |
| "C&W India's revenues touched Rs 45 crore last fiscal and in the first six months of the current financial year we have already doubled that figure," Prabhakaran said. |
