The company has reduced the entry cost by around 30 per cent to Rs 1,990 (plus Rs 200 as installation charges) from the earlier Rs 2,500 (plus Rs 200). Hence, a base package earlier was Rs 2,700 + Rs 1,200 (12-month subscription). Now, the monthly charges start at Rs 60.
Dish TV aims to gradually increase the proportion of its revenues from its value-added services, said Vinay Agarwal, CEO, Dish TV.
With offerings like movie-on-demand, gaming, active sports, active news and multi-studio feed, Dish TV hopes that as DTH television industry evolves, a higher proportion of people will opt for such value-added services.
In addition to that, Dish TV also charges carriage fees to many of the television channels which again seems to be a good revenue stream for the firm.
