DQE ropes in Sun-Mate as global toy partner for animated series

Sun-Mate will design and manufacture variety of toys for DQE's 3D animated television series 'The Jungle Book'

DQ Entertainment (International) Limited, a Hyderabad-based animation, game art and entertainment company, has appointed Sun-Mate Corporation as the master global toy partner for its new 3D animated television series – The Jungle Book.

As the master toy partner, Sun-Mate will design and manufacture a large variety of toys for the new ‘The Jungle Book’ including play sets, figurines, plush, electronic toys, walkie-talkies, role-play and outdoor adventure sets.

Sun-Mate will preview the new toy line at the forthcoming 2013 Hong Kong, New York and Nuremberg toy fairs as part its initial global sales launches for the brand.

“With the success of the first season of The Jungle Book, we are now poised to receive maximum traction on the licensing of this brand as we are on the verge of launching the second season of this series,” Tapaas Chakravarti, chairman and chief executive of DQE, said in a filing to the BSE on Wednesday.

The Jungle Book new 3D, CGI (computer-generated imagery) animated series is being aired in 165 countries across the globe. It currently has over 100 licensees worldwide in key categories of publishing, gaming, digital, apparel, accessories, home furnishings, back-to-school, games, puzzles, confections, amusement, Halloween and seasonal products.

DE Entertainment’s scrip is currently trading at Rs 20.40 on the BSE, up 3.03%, over the previous close of Rs 19.80.
