Dynamatic Technologies, a manufacturer of precision engineering products, has received industrial defence production licences from the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, for the production of heavy vehicles like battle tanks, land systems and sub-systems.

Udayant Malhoutra, CEO and MD of Dynamatic Technologies said, this was an enabling option which would help the company produce battle tanks and other systems as and when the company decides to manufacture those. Presently, only a handful of companies in India including the Tatas, L&T and Mahindra & Mahindra hold licences for producing heavy defence vehicles including battle tanks.

The Bangalore-based company has also received licences for the manufacture of distribution mechanism and hydraulic coupling fitted on heavy armoured vehicles, and licences to manufacture aircraft parts and accessories.

One of the earliest companies in the country to start aerospace and defence business, Dynamatic had produced spare parts for various battle tanks, including the Arjun main battle tank in the early ’90s.

The industrial defence licences have been granted to the company subsequent to clearances from the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and Ministry of Home Affairs. “It will enable the company to consolidate on its leadership position as the partner of choice to the MoD and other leading defence agencies in the country,” the company said.
