In Phase-I, it would take up the programme in 24 municipalities including Guntur, Kakinada, Nellore, Anantapur, Tirupati and Kurnool. This would lead to energy cost savings of Rs 28.56-crore annually.
Towards promoting efficient lighting in homes, EESL is keen on supplying high-quality LED lights at a subsidised Rs 10, as against a market price of Rs 400. The modalities for the implementation of this project are currently being worked out.
This apart, the press release stated, EESL has apprised the chief minister of retrofitting the agricultural pumpsets with energy efficient units in a phased manner to ensure a minimum of 30 per cent energy saving in the farm sector.
