Electro Motive Diesel (EMD) is looking forward for collaborating with Indian Railways for manufacturing high capacity diesel locomotives in India in next five years.
The Rs 1500 crores high capacity diesel locomotive project, coming up in a 230 acres of land in Madhora in Bihar is to be developed in PPP model.
EMD alongwith General Electric, both US based companies, are being shortlisted by Indian railways after the scrutiny of expression of interest submitted by both companies..
"The next step is the financial bid and we are keen to participate in the bidding," John S Hamilton, president and CEO of EMD told PTI here.
The proposed diesel locomotive plant in Bihar is expected to operational by 2014 is to manufacture 1000 units in the next ten years.
