Ruia's promoted Essar Shipping today reported a consolidated net loss of Rs 72.75 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2008, as against a net profit of Rs 83.42 crore in the corresponding quarter a year-ago.
Consolidated total income rose to Rs 637.72 crore in the first quarter of FY'09 from Rs 462.54 crore in the same period of previous year, Essar Shipping Ltd said in a filling to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
On a standalone basis, the company posted a net loss of Rs 11.60 crore for the April-June quarter this year, against a net profit of Rs 71.15 crore over the year-ago period.
The standalone total income of Essar Shipping rose to Rs 341.65 crore for the quarter ended June 30, from Rs 217.61 crore in the year-ago period.
