Exide Q4 net up 8.5% at Rs 68 cr, declares 60 pc dividend

Battery manufacturer Exide Industries today said it has reported a 8.52 per cent rise in net profit at Rs 68.20 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2009.
The firm had a net profit of Rs 62.82 crore in the March quarter of FY'08, Exide said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
The total income rose marginally to Rs 801.13 crore during the March quarter from Rs 796.36 crore in the same period a year ago. The board has declared a dividend of 60 per cent at the rate of Re 0.60 on shares of face value of Rs one, for FY'09.
For the financial year ended March 31, Exide reported a 16.50 per cent jump in consolidated net profit at Rs 191.49 crore. The firm had a net profit of Rs 164.37 crore in FY'08.
The consolidated total income rose 14.15 per cent to Rs 3,410.74 crore during FY'09, from Rs 2,987.75 crore in the year-ago period. Shares of Exide were trading at Rs 54, up 2.27 per cent in the afternoon trade on the BSE.
