First medical device cluster to come up next to Nano in Sanand

State's first medical device manufacturing cluster having a common research and development (R&D) facility in products and human resource development, will come up next to Tata Motors Nano's plant in Sanand, official said.

"The proposed cluster at Sanand shall be spread over 100 acres and will have around 25 to 30 companies exclusively into manufacturing of medical devices," Project Director National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER)-Ahmedabad Harish Padh told PTI.

The cluster will have a common R&D facility with an estimated cost of Rs 80 crore, Padh said adding "It will work in collaboration with the national centre for medical devices at NIPER."
