Former bureaucrat joins Bharti Airtel Board

Mittal replaces Nikesh Arora who has resigned as independent director from Bharti Airtel's board

Bharti Airtel, on Thursday, said Dinesh Kumar Mittal, a former bureaucrat who retired in 2013 as Secretary, Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance, has been appointed as an additional director of the company.

Mittal replaces Nikesh Arora who has resigned as independent director from Bharti Airtel's board. Arora served as an independent director with the company for five-and-a-half years.

The company said Mittal has been appointed as an Additional Director in the category of Independent Director.

Mittal, a 1977 batch UP cadre IAS officer, has also served as Secretary, Ministry of Corporate Affairs in 2011 and Additional Secretary, Department of Commerce from 2009-2011.

On the other hand, Bharti Airtel's legal and regulatory head Jyoti Pawar has resigned from the company. Pawar is reported to be joining Economic Laws Practice as a partner.
