Future Generali India Insurance Co has insured the concert of world renowned music conductor Zubin Mehta, who is set to enthrall Mumbaikars with his performance on September 9-10.

Future Generali has provided event insurance policy, covering the event against contingencies beyond the control of organisers, including fire and allied perils (earthquake and terrorism), personal accident cover for crew and public liability cover. The event cancellation insurance cover will provide protection for any financial loss of the event organisers following revocation of the event due to various insured perils, including terrorism, non-appearance of the performers due to flight cancellation, accident or critical illness. Before the Mumbai concert, Mehta conducted a performance in Srinagar on Saturday, which was plagued with threats. Civil society and separatist groups had opposed this concert being held in the Kashmir Valley. Meanwhile, insurance companies said Mehta had not got insurance for the Srinagar concert. K G Krishnamoorthy Rao, managing director and chief executive, said: “Future Generali is proud to be associated with the legendary music maestro Zubin Mehta. It is a matter of pride for us to insure his Mumbai event. Future Generali is among the few Indian insurers, who insure such events, through their specialised coverage offerings. We see event insurance as an emerging business opportunity.”

Future Generali has in the past insured Kaun Banega Crorepati (the popular TV quiz show), Lalbaugcha Raja, is the popular public Ganesha idol kept at Lalbaug, Mumbai, during Ganeshotsav and also various block-buster movies like Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. Event cancellation insurance is becoming popular in India as many of the events are organised by professional event organisers and cancellation of an event can result in huge financial loss to the event organisers.
