Gemini Communication today said it has acquired African telecom and internet services provider Rosy Blue Wireless (RBW).
RBW has presence in Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique. The company operates in these countries through joint ventures, where it holds 60 per cent stake and rest are held by local partners.
The company, however, did not disclose the financial details of the deal.
"This acquisition is an exciting step in our growth strategy and offers tremendous growth potential. We have close association with RBW and we look forward to develop similar collaborations with them in the African territories in future also," Gemini Communication MD Krishna B said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
The JVs of RBW are called Morse Communications and have been alloted WiMax spectrum license in these countries.
"With this acquisition, Gemini will be expanding its lines of businesses into newer verticals as well," the company said in its statement to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
The entire WiMAX network rollouts will happen using Pointred Telecom's (a Gemini Communications subsidiary) WiMAX products. Pointred Telecom will tremendously benefit due to equipment orders being placed on them, it added.
WiMAX is a wireless digital communications system, used for providing high-speed wireless internet access.
Gemini Communication is a network integration and telecom services provider.
