Globsyn announces new program for aspiring entrepreneurs in Gujarat

Having announced its plans to set up the Asian Institute of Family Business (AIFB) in Ahmedabad, Kolkata-based Globsyn Group is now working towards enhancing its offerings in the state of Gujarat. Apart from the flagship two year Family Managed Business Administration (FMBA), the institute will now be offering an 18 months post graduate diploma in innovation and entrepreneurship (PGDIE) for aspiring entrepreneurs in Gujarat.

"With most of the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Gujarat being family-owned and family-run businesses, the younger generation is either aspiring to join their family businesses or start their own. To help them understand various nitty-gritties of starting an entrepreneurship, we are offering PGDIE that spans around 18 months. The programme is being offered in tie-up with California State University," said Bikram Dasgupta, chairman of Globsyn Group.The group is also conducting research and development (R&D) for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Gujarat that are family-run businesses.

For this, the group plans to set up a research centre whereby it can understand challenges faced by these family businesses. Through this research centre, Globsyn intends to understand the challenges faced by these family businesses in the SME sector, and prepare case studies and help these SMEs overcome these challenges. Recently, Globsyn signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the government of Gujarat to set up an Institutional Management Committee (IMC) to impart industry intensive courses.

IMC will introduce and run innovative courses which will impart such training which is in sync with the requirements of the industry. Moreover, the group will also start specialized skill development centers across Gujarat for imparting necessary skills in Entrepreneurship/ Family Business Management, through its institute, Asian Institute of Family Business (AIFB) and other specialized skills through their Knowledge Finishing School (KFS) concept.

Talking about AIFB, Dasgupta had said earlier, "The state of Gujarat is flux with many small and medium sized enterprises. However, there is a lot of scope in educating them since they are being run by traditional families since ages. If we can bring the right kind of education, we will be making some important value addition to these businesses and boosting the state's ambitions. Our concepts on family business management and KFS will pave way for introducing innovative techniques and curriculum in line with the global requirements."
