Godrej & Boyce Manufacturing Company Limited, which launched its range of LED televisions (TV) here on Thursday, is targeting to more than treble its share in the Andhra Pradesh’s colour TV market from the existing 3 per cent to 10 per cent in the next one year.

According to Godrej Appliance Division vice president- sales & marketing Kamal Nandi, AP has a market size of 1.1 million colour TVs amounting to Rs 1,100 crore and is growing at 8 per cent per annum. The state contributed Rs 40 crore to the company colour TV sales turnover, which is now targeted to be increased to Rs 110 crore over the next 12 months.

Nandi told mediapersons that with the launch of the new range of TVs, the company was expecting to emerge as the top three players in the TV market.

Godrej Appliances senior general manager — marketing, Ramesh Chembath, said while majority of the sales in AP was in the flat and slim TV segment, lately there had been a clear shift towards the higher end segment with sales of LCDs and LEDs increasingly gaining significance.
