GSM telcos add 3.51 mn subscribers in April

GSM telcos had registered a fall of 1.97 million in net subscriber base

GSM telcos have added 3.51 million new subscribers in April, taking the total subscriber base to 664.45 million in India, according to data released by Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), on Wednesday.

However, growth in net subscriber addition has fallen from that of March. GSM telcos reported net addition of 5.35 million in March.

In February, GSM telcos had registered a fall of 1.97 million in net subscriber base, according to COAI data.

Bharti Airtel remained on top of the chart with 188.80 million subscribers with an addition of 601,252 new customers in April, followed by Vodafone India with 153.78 million subscribers with an addition of 1.42 million. Idea Cellular gained 1.28 million new customers in April.

According to COAI data, state-run MTNL lost 100,127 GSM customers ending April with 4.72 million subscribers.
