With the introduction of new home security products, security solutions provider company Godrej Security Solutions now eyes on bigger market share in home security solutions business.
The targeted sales growth is approximately 40 per cent in the home security segment and has done business of Rs 65 crore last year which is 10 per cent of the total revenue of GSS. The new range of products included ultramodern safe, high-end video door phones and CCTV products. It has also introduced data storage safes which are specifically designed to protect electronic gadgets like laptops, data cards and microchips.
Commenting on this, Mehernosh Pithawalla, assistant vice president, marketing, Godrej Security Solutions says, “In India, a burglary happens every 15 seconds. Our survey has found that most people still rely on low level security grills, mechanical locks, peepholes and watchmen for their security needs. While it is good to have these methods of security in place; in this day and age, when burglars and anti-social elements are becoming more sophisticated in their techniques; it is very important that they take additional precautions to ensure the safety of their loved ones they leave at home as well as their hard earned valuables.”
According to Pithawalla, GSS’ sales had grown 50 per cent on the back of the previous campaign.
The home security retail business has done business of Rs 65 crore last year which is 10 per cent of the total revenue of GSS . The price range of these products is from Rs 4000 to Rs 50,000.
‘National Home Security Index’ by GSS includes surveyof about 3800 people across India in 11major cities. The survey is a measure of consumer concern about the safety of family and valuables at home and to give a diverse understanding into the perception of safety across Indian households.
About Pune, the survey says that more than 80 per cent citizens of Pune have expressed concern about leaving their valuables at home, including cash, jewellery and electronics at home with proper security safeguards.
As much as 86 per cent have also admitted that they are quite concerned about leaving their children at home alone when they are out for work.
The survey findings have shown that the city has a very high awareness index, with regards to their environment and their interest towards securing their homes properly; however, the city scored very low on actual adoption.
